Albany Police Officer Pleads Not Guilty To Leaving Scene of Accident

The Albany police officer originally accused of leaving the scene of a property damage accident was in court on Friday.

30-year-old Shawn Dixon is now being accused of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

Dixon's attorney, Mike McDermott, tells News Channel 13 that the increased charges likely stem from Dixon's profession.

"He's just another example of trying to inflate this whole matter beyond what it really deserves because he's a police officer."

Dixon pleaded not guilty, and is currently suspended without pay.

He was not on duty at the time of the incident.
