Release from the Albany County Sheriff’s Department
Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. reports the arrest of three Altamont teens on charges stemming from damage caused at the John Boyd Thacher State Park in the Town of New Scotland.
On June 8, 2017 at 7:03am Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a motor vehicle that had caused damage to a picnic area lawn in the Mine Lot of the State Park. Upon arriving Deputies located a Jeep Liberty SUV that was stuck in the mud on the lawn of the picnic area. The lawn of the picnic area had significant damage due to the vehicle being driven on it.
The driver of the vehicle was charged with Criminal Mischief 3rd (felony) and Trespass (violation). Two teenagers that were passengers in the vehicle at the time of the incident were also charged with Trespass (violation) (ages 18 & two are 16 years old)
The driver was released on an appearance ticket for the Town of New Scotland Court and the other two teens were released on appearance tickets for the Town of New Scotland Court.
