Boyfriend Killed Following Attempted Attack on Police

A domestic dispute in Pittsfield, Massachusetts leads to an officer-involved shooting, and a man dying.

The incident happened on Taylor Street.

Reports say the boyfriend of a woman came home and was distraught and drunk, following the loss of his job.

The woman says they had argued earlier in the day at home, prompting a call to Pittsfield Police.

Police say upon responding to the incident at their home, her boyfriend came out of the house, and charged at officers with a knife.

Officers then opened fire.

36-year-old Daniel Gillis was shot and killed.

Police are identifying Chris Colello as the officer who shot Gillis.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating.
