A group of elected officials from the city of Albany and Albany County want the State Board of Elections, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, and Albany County DA David Soares to look into what they call "wrongful activity" in the absentee ballot process in this year's primary and general elections.
City Treasurer Daris Shahnifar says it appears that voters in certain areas are reporting that their absentee ballots are being completed for them with incorrect information and that the ballot applications contain names of people to deliver give their ballots to without their knowledge.
Much of the concern, Shahnifar says, centers around Albany's 11th ward, where there are more than 200 absentee applications on file for the upcoming general election.
In that race, incumbent Judd Krasher is running on the Independence Party line after losing the Democratic primary to Alfredo Balarin.
The 11th ward encompasses neighborhoods North and South of Central Ave. to the Colonie town line.
