NBC's "Today Show" hosts Savannah Gunthre and Hoda Kotb announced Matt Lauer's dismissal this morning at the beginning of the show. The firing came after allegations of sexual misconduct. Page Six is reporting that according to a source, Lauer sexually assaulted an NBC staffer at the Sochi Olympics.
Rumors of Lauer's sexual escapades have been circulating around NBC for years. Lauer's wife, Annette filed for divorce in 2006 but later withdrew the filing. They have however lived separately; his wife in the Hamptons with their children, and Lauer in the city during the week.
NBC News Chairman Andrew Lack said in a statement that Lauer hasn't had prior complaints prior to this one, however, it doesn't appear to be an isolated incident.
