Lawsuit Filed Over Shelter Expansion in Saratoga

Some Saratoga residents are suing their zoning board of appeals over plans for a Code Blue Shelter.

Shelters of Saratoga is also named in the lawsuit, which is filed on behalf of a group of Franklin Street residents.  Representatives says that although the members of the group have been long-time supporters of Shelters of Saratoga's sober-based transition shelter, the plan to build a "non-sober" expansion adjacent to the existing facility is more than the neighborhood can support.

Representatives note that the Franklin Street neighborhood has two sober shelters in existence, in addition to the Franklin Community Center.

The neighbors say they would like to help support an alternative solution.
