Albertsons Buying Rest of Rite Aid

It's a big marriage between a big grocery store chain and a big pharmacy chain. Albertsons is buying up the leftovers of Rite Aid not being purchased by Walgreens.

The combined value of the two companies is around $24 billion.  Albertsons owns Safeway and more than a dozen other chains.

There are currently about 600 Rite Aids in New York State and there are a couple dozen Rite Aids in our region. It's not clear at this time which stores will become Walgreens.
