State Police have arrested a Hudson Falls man in connection with an international romantic scam.
48 year old Michael Fleeman allegedly met the women on a dating site and after several communications would claim he was stuck in the Middle East and needed money to get back to the U.S. Victims would wire money. They sent a lot of money. Troopers estimate between $150,000 and $200,000 dollars went through Fleeman's account and some of the money was then forwarded to other subjects in Nigeria. According to NYS Police Fleeman kept a share. The investigation began after police received a complaint from a woman in New Mexico. Then other victims of similar circumstance were identified.
Fleeman is charged with Grand Larceny in the third degree, a Class D Felony.
