Historical State Trail Undergoing Safety Cleanup

State Parks crews will start work next week on a project to shore up the Indian Ladder Trail at Thacher State Park.

The teams will consist of rope handlers and scalers suspended along the slope edge, that will chip away any loose rock and debris.

The historic and popular Indian Ladder Trail has been closed since last July, when falling rocks severely injured a woman, leaving her with brain and spinal cord injuries.

The trail is expected to reopen once the work is done.

Officials say they believe the entire project could take up to 4 to 6 weeks.
