President Trump Calls Off Philadelphia Eagles' White House Visit

President Trump is pulling an invitation to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

In a statement, Trump says the full team is unable to come to the White House as planned today because they disagree with his belief in standing for the National Anthem and wanted to send a smaller delegation to the White House.

A statement from the White House said the full team wasn't going to show up because President Trump, quote, "insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem." Former Philadelphia Eagles Receiver Torrey Smith tweeted that he thought the statement was, quote, "so many lies." He said no one refused to go simply due to the National Anthem issue. Smith accused the President of continuing to spread what he called the "false narrative that players are anti-military."
