Saratoga Race Course Prepares for The Whitney

This Saturday at the Saratoga race course, it's a major stakes race that has grown even bigger in the two-plus years that NYRA CEO Chris Kay has been at the helm...the Whitney, worth $1.2 million.

Kay tells WGY,"it truly is one of the best days of racing in America."

Two years ago Kay said that NYRA would work on increasing the visibility and the fan recognition for the Whitney.

The 91st running of the Grade 1, $1.2 million Whitney will top a blockbuster day of racing featuring five stakes including the Grade 1, $500,000 Longines Test, the Grade 3, $200,000 Fasig-Tipton Waya, the $100,000 Fasig-Tipton Lure and the $100,000 Fasig-Tipton De La Rose.

The Whitney is scheduled to go to post at 5:46pm.

You can hear the Whitney on WGY. Live coverage starts at 5pm Saturday. Listen to WGY anywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
