N.Y.S. D.M.V. Launches New I.D. Program to Battle Use of Fakes

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles is launching a pilot program to try and identify more fake I.Ds.

The state has currently been cracking down on underage drinking, and the use of fake I.D.s.

One prime example is Operation Prevent, which focuses on doing I.D. checks at popular concert venues.

LAW I.D., which is described as state-of-the-art technology, will enable investigators to scan a license or identification card, and match it against driving records from all 50 U.S. states.

Even prior to the announcement of the LAW I.D. pilot program, over 200 people were already arrested in New York this summer for using fake I.D.s.

70 of the arrests took place at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
