Rensselaer County Ordered to Pay Former Jail Guard $2.6 million

A state appellate court has upheld a ruling that will require Rensselaer County to pay more than $2.5 million in damages to a former jail sergeant for lost wages and suffering.

Lora Seabury claimed she was forced to quit her job as a result of severe sexual harassment by a group of officers known as "The Boys' Club."  This is the second appellate setback for the county, which has been fighting the case for the past 8 years.

Seabury had worked at the jaiul for 17 years before she left.
