Allegiant Air to Begin Service from Albany to Several Florida Cities

More low-cost flight options from Albany to Florida are on the horizon.

Allegiant Airlines announced Tuesday that they're coming to Albany, with service to Florida cities:

-Tampa/St. Pete via St. Pete/Clearwater International (Starting December 12)

-Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda via Punta Gorda Airport (Starting December 13)

-Orlando/Sanford via Orlando-Sanford International airport (Starting December 13)

An introductory fare of $59 one-way is available through Wednesday, but the average fare won't be much more than that at$67 one-way.

Airport CEO John O' Donnell says "the people that have been traveling for leisure will not just take one or two vacations a year, but may increase it to three or four because the air travel is so affordable."

“We’re very excited to offer our brand of friendly, ultra-low-cost, nonstop service to our newest Allegiant city,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant vice president of planning and revenue. “We’re sure travelers from Upstate New York will love our convenient flights to enjoy all of the fun, excitement and beauty that these Florida cities offer.”

Initially, there will be three flights per week out of Albany, but an Allegiant spokesperson says plans are for daily flights starting next Spring.
