New York School Bus Drivers to be Randomly Drug Tested

Governor Cuomo has signed a bill that calls for all bus drivers to be randomly drug and alcohol tested.

The law goes into place in four months. The law also prohibits school bus drivers from drinking alcohol for eight hours prior to their shift, up from six hours.

Under previous legislation, those driving buses carrying fewer than 16 passengers were not required to submit to testing. School districts' costs to administer the tests will be eligible for state reimbursement.
