New York Lawmaker Wants NY To Become Sanctuary STATE

A New York State lawmaker wants to make New York a so-called sanctuary state. Democratic State Senator Jose Serrano Jr from the Bronx is pushing the initiative.

The legislation would ban police from deporting undocumented immigrants unless they are convicted for serious or violent crimes. California and Connecticut have similar laws already on the books.

Republicans are calling the "Dignity for Immigrants in New York State Act" "misguided" and "dangerous."
