Albany Empire Shuts Down Business Operations

The Albany Empire may not get a chance to defend their Arena Football League Championship next Spring.

The Times Union reported Tuesday evening that the Empire and five other Arena League franchises are closing local business operations, but at this point; the league has yet to determine if it will suspend operations completely.

A multi-million dollar lawsuit filed against the league by an insurance carrier that provided workers compensation coverage between 2009 and 2012 has caused the league to look at its financial options.

Randall Boe is the Arena League Commissioner, he says that the league has not made a decision to completely suspend operations, but says that decision will be likely be made in the next several weeks.
