UPDATE: Gansevoort Man Charged with Punching Pregnant Woman in 2018

UPDATE: The Saratoga County Sheriff's office sent this release in error to media outlets, this case occurred in December 2018 and the NY bail reform law had no impact on it.

Freed with just a future court date, a man who nearly caused a woman's miscarriage.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office charged Stephen Miller of Gansevoort with abortion after he allegedly punched a 26-week pregnant woman in the abdomen with a closed fist, nearly forcing a miscarriage.

Authorities say he fled the home where the incident took place in early December, and was later located in Mechanicville.

The victim treated at the time of the incident, the unborn child believed to be unharmed. Miller was arraigned and, under terms of the new state bail reform law, was released on his own recognizance.
