Nursing Home Residents Test Positive for COVID in Columbia County

Columbia County Department of Health announced on Friday that four residents of a nursing home have tested positive for coronavirus.

The four cases at the Pine Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Philmont have been confirmed by the New York State Department of Health and each of the individuals are currently isolated at the facility. According to officials, none of the four residents have been hospitalized and the facility is reporting that their symptoms are improving.

Pine Haven has been closed to residents for the past three weeks and all employees and essential delivery drivers are being screened for travel, symptoms or fever.

Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell said on Friday he's confident that the facility is taking the necessary steps to protect their residents and employees adding, "the Columbia County Department of Health remains in constant contact with the New York State Department of Health."

County Emergency Management Director David W. Harrison, Jr. noted that "all nursing homes within the county have a plan to handle these types of contingencies."
