Cuomo Delays Phase 2 of Reopening Regions of New York, Set for Today

While local leaders in many parts of New York anticipated that "Phase Two" of re-opening the economy would get underway Friday, Governor Cuomo's put that on hold.

The governor Thursday afternoon revealed those five regions will not enter that next phase until collected health data is analyzed by international health experts.

Hair salons and barbershops had been among the businesses hoping to re-open Friday.

Among the regions hoping to begin Phase Two is the Mohawk Valley, which includes Fulton, Montgomery and Schoharie Counties.

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who represents the North Country region, released a statement Thursday night saying she has heard from "hundreds of frustrated and upset local officials and small businesses" who she calls "outraged by the unacceptable and arbitrary decision by Governor Cuomo to move the goal posts for re-opening."

Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara wants the state legislature to pass a bill that would limit Governor Cuomo and his reach.
