More Shootings In Albany, Mayor and Police Chief Seek Help

Two daylight shootings in Albany, within an hour of each other, and a total 3 people are shot, and one man has now died.

Albany Police chief Eric Hawkins says that he and Mayor Kathy Sheehan are reaching out for more police help.. Hawkins says State Police and Albany County Sheriffs will be sending additional people and resources. In the first shooting at 1:20 pm, a man was shot in the area of South Pearl Street and Morton Avenue.

Albany Police say he was shot multiple times in the torso. He was taken to Albany Med with serious injuries and the man has now died from his injuries .The second incident happened a 2:15pm. Police responding to the area of First and Quail for reports of a shooting. Police say when they arrived, they located a woman in a vehicle who sustained a gunshot wound to the neck. The woman was taken to Albany Medical Center where she is listed in critical condition. And in that same incident at First and Quail, Police say a man was shot in the arm. He went to Albany Medical Center for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

On Wednesday night, Albany Police report another shooting at Second Avenue and Clinton Street, a 16 year old is dropped off at Albany Med after being shot in the leg.
