Teenager Arrested in Connection With Albany Homicide, Other Shootings

Albany Police announcing an arrest in connection with the murder of a man Wednesday afternoon on South Pearl Street.

The 17-year-old from Albany was taken into custody yesterday for the shooting death of 21 year old Nyjawaun Thomas.

Albany Police say Schenectady Police helped them make the arrest.

The teen was also charged in connection with a shooting that occurred June 8th on Central Avenue near Lexington Avenue, which left two people injured.

Additionally, the investigation determined he was responsible for a shots fired incident that happened on Tuesday, no injuries were reported in that incident.

The 17-year-old also had a warrant for failing to appear for sentencing in his role in a 2019 shots fired incident that left a three year old wounded.

He faces several charges, including murder, attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Due to the age of the suspect, his name is not being released.
