A statue honoring local Union soldiers from the Civil War is found damaged in Saratoga Springs. The top of the statue, located in Congress Park, was found Thursday morning shattered on the ground near its base.

It was dedicated in 1875 and honors the 77th New York Volunteers. Earlier this week, vandals spray painted several areas of the park including the recently-renovated Katrina Trask Gateway.
