An announcement will be made Thursday morning to officially bring another arena football team to the City of Albany and Times Union Center. Ownership involved with the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League have been reported to want to place an expansion team in Albany.
The city has been home to several arena football franchises over the years. The latest venture, the Albany Empire, proved very successful in its two-year-run averaging more than 10,000 fans at the TU Center in 2019's Arena Bowl winning season.
That team was part of the Arena Football League, which ceased operations last fall and filed for Chapter Seven bankruptcy protection.
