Some prisoner advocacy groups are calling on the State Department of Corrections to release inmates who are infected with COVID-19.
Nearly 30% of the prison population at the Elmira prison has been infected with COVID-19. Greene County prison has 132 positive cases, and there are 129 coronavirus cases behind bars at the Green Haven facility. State prison officials say they are doing their best to protect inmates.
