New York's COVID Rate of Transmission Rises, New Details Announced

Governor Cuomo held a coronavirus briefing Friday on the state's COVID-19 response.

While no region is in a red zone, which reverts an area back to New York on Pause, cases are steadily increasing across the state.

Currently, the statewide positivity rate is 4.98% and the rate of transmission is 1.3, something the state hasn't seen in months. Health officials will be evaluating the data this weekend and any additional zones will be announced on Monday.

Cuomo also announced that hospitals must remain at under 85% capacity by reducing elective surgeries, adding an additional 25% capacity, or a combination of both.

Meanwhile, restaurants in New York City will no longer be allowed to operate indoor dining.
