Gov. Cuomo Suspends Facial Recognition Tech Until at Least July 2022

Concerns have been raised about using the tech in schools because of reported high rates of mistakes when identifying women, young people and people of color and over the security of any information collected. Governor Cuomo has signed legislation suspending facial recognition tech in schools until at least July of 2022 and says more research will be done, and feedback will be solicited from parents and teachers to consider the pros and cons of the technology.
