Hospitals across New York State are gearing up to test for a more transmissible form of the coronavirus.

The strain has recently emerged in the United Kingdom and has been known to spread very easily among people. At least three airlines with routes to New York from the U.K. have agreed to start screening passengers for COVID-19 this week. So far, there's no proof the new strain has reached the Empire State. Should a person test positive for it they'll be isolated immediately.
