The first case of the U.K. strain of the coronavirus has been identified in the Capital Region.

Governor Cuomo says a man in his 60s who works at a jewelry store in Saratoga County tested positive for the strain that is reportedly 70 percent more transmissible.

Cuomo says the man has not traveled recently, and that he appears to be on the mend.

Cuomo says the man is associated with N. Fox Jewelers on Broadway in Saratoga Springs. There are three other positive cases connected to the store, but it’s not clear which strain of the virus those people have.

Cuomo says anyone who went to that jewelry store between December 18th and the 24th should get tested for coronavirus.
