New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies are stepping up patrols and cracking down on impaired drivers during the Super Bowl weekend.

The enforcement campaign runs through Monday. The Safety initiative, sponsored by STOPDWI, works to reduce alcohol and drug related crashes.

Last year's Super Bowl patrols resulted in over 26,000 tickets written across New York for vehicle and traffic law violations and about 850 DWI arrests were made.
