The top Republican in the Assembly is calling for a special session to address the state's nursing home scandal.

Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay says while lawmakers are supposed to be off this week, they should reconvene soon to discuss the issue. Republicans have accused the Cuomo administration of covering up the number of nursing home residents who died due to COVID-19. Barclay also believes it's time for lawmakers to strip the governor of the emergency powers he's had since the start of the health crisis.
