Republicans in both chambers of the State Legislature are calling for Governor Cuomo's emergency powers to be revoked.

The governor was given authority to make major decisions in the early days of the COVID-19 crisis, without approval from the Senate or Assembly. However, Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt believes the governor has abused the privilege and that it's time to restore a system of checks and balances. Democrats also met for several hours Monday to discuss this issue. The governor's executive powers are currently set to expire April 30th.
