The state budget deadline is coming up Thursday, and both the Legislature and governor's office are still trying to hammer out a final agreement.

One thing they've reportedly been focusing on during negotiations are potential tax hikes for wealthy New Yorkers. Both Governor Cuomo and Republicans are hesitant to include them in the budget, however Democrats believe they're needed so the state has at least one recurring revenue stream. Other issues being discussed include education funding, health care and the state's fiscal recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
