Fellow Republican and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is endorsing Congresswoman Elise Stefanik's bid to become the third-highest ranking GOP member in that chamber.
McCarthy told Fox News Sunday the 21st District representative should replace Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney and become the next GOP conference chair. McCarthy believes Stefanik can help unify the House Republican caucus ahead of the 2022 elections. Cheney has upset members of the party with her constant criticism of former president Donald Trump. A vote to remove her as conference chair could happen this week.
