For the first time in over a year, millions of New Yorkers won't have to wear a mask Wednesday when visiting most places.

That's because the state will be following mask-wearing guidelines issued by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That means everyone who is fully vaccinated won't need to have on a mask while indoors or outdoors or take part in social distancing. But, businesses do have the right to ask people to wear a mask regardless of their vaccination status.
