People of color were hurt by a lack of access to early voting in Rensselaer County according to the State Attorney General.

Letitia James has filed a lawsuit after she says the county's board of elections ignored criteria that is required by law when taking into account where early voting sites are set up. She points to a lack of early voting sites in the city of Troy where there is a large number of Black, Hispanic, and low-income voters who rely on public transportation to vote. A number of community advocates had repeatedly requested better access. A spokesman for the Rensselaer County Executive's office says in the coming days it will be reviewing the lawsuit filed by James.
