Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan and Police Chief Eric Hawkins say progress is being made towards putting an end to the growing number of gun crimes in the city.

In the last few days, at least three people have been shot including two 15-year-olds who were struck by bullets near the State Capitol. Mayor Sheehan believes that getting younger residents involved in the Summer Youth Employment Program is one way to keep them off the streets and out of trouble. She's also hoping for funding from the state to support gun violence prevention programs.
