A state of emergency remains in effect throughout Rensselaer County after storms cause severe damage in that area.

On Wednesday, heavy rains triggered severe flooding and caused several roads to be shut down. County Executive Steve McLaughlin says residents should avoid any travel that isn't necessary and stay away from locations with standing water. Anyone who wants to submit a damage report can post a photo on the county's official Facebook page.
