Capital Region Group Responds as Pandemic is Linked to More Overdoses

Drug overdose deaths during the pandemic hit the highest number ever recorded. CDC data shows that deaths skyrocketed to 93-thousand in 2020, up from 72-thousand in 2019.That's an increase of close to 30-percent.Dr. Nora Volkow with the National Institute on Drug Abuse says the numbers are chilling and blames the COVID-19 pandemic for creating a "devastating collision of health crises in America." Most of the deaths involved opioids, synthetic or otherwise.
