A member of the NXIVM sex cult has been sentenced to time served by a federal judge in Brooklyn.

Lauren Salzman, who testified against cult leader Keith Raniere at his 2019 trial, could have been sentenced to up to nine years in prison. Instead, she'll spend the next five years on probation and have to serve 300 hours of community service after pleading guilty to racketeering charges. Salzman's mother Nancy was the president and co-founder of the controversial group and will be sentenced in September.
