One of the busiest stretches of road in Schenectady is going to be getting a massive overhaul in the near future.
It was announced on Thursday that the state is providing $ 500-thousand to upgrade the area around Chrisler Avenue, Main Avenue and Crane Street. Some of the changes include getting rid of excess pavement, installing new pedestrian crosswalks and increasing green space. The city will pay for the remaining cost of the project with money from federal Community Development Block Grant funds. Construction is expected to begin next year.
