Troy Police Make Two Arrests in Shooting That Left Boy Paralyzed

n Troy, 24 year old Julian Soto and a 17 year old whose name is not being released, are facing attempted murder charges in the March shooting of 12 year old M.J. Rivera.

The drive by shooting left Rivera partially paralyzed from the waist down. Details released at the time of the shooting in March, was that M.J. was sweeping the floor near the living room in the house, when a car pulled up outside the house on O'Neill Street, and a passenger took out a gun and fired into the home. One bullet struck M.J. in the back. M.J.'s mother said at the time, that she thought that the suspects had a disagreement with her 23 year old son Francisco. Last week Troy Police announced that Francisco Rivera had been arrested on a weapons charge. On Monday, police say they've also charged Rivera with an additional four felonies including attempted murder for his role in a June 10th 2020 shooting that injured a 26 year old. It's not clear if the two incidents are related.
