After being canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a popular holiday event is taking place in the Capital Region this weekend.

Saturday marks the return of the Schenectady Holiday Parade which is expected to draw a crowd of roughly 15,000 people. The parade gets underway at 5:00 pm and is going to honor the heroes of the coronavirus crisis such as essential workers and first responders. It'll also feature a performance from "American Idol" finalist Madison VanDenburg. Everyone attending the parade is asked to wear a mask to limit the spread of germs
