State Police have issued a warning to residents in Clifton Park and surrounding communities about an ongoing scam that's targeting grandparents.

Troopers say people have been getting calls saying their grandchild or other relative has been arrested and that a bail bondsman needs to be paid immediately. Scammers are also contacting folks claiming a family member has been in an accident and payment is needed for medical costs. The thieves ask for large amounts of money and often call back if someone pays them. Police are reminding everyone not to give out any information over the phone to a person they don't know.
