The state Division of Consumer Protection is urging New Yorkers to be aware of scams connected to at-home COVID-19 tests.

The agency says scammers may attempt to take advantage of a distribution program set up by the federal government by sending phony emails and text messages that contain links designed to steal personal information. The only website people should use to claim their free tests is covidtests.gov. For more information, contact the Division of Consumer Protection helpline at 800-697-1220.
