A National Guard officer from Clifton Park has earned the right to lead the largest Saint Patrick's Day parade in the world later this month.

Lieutenant Colonel Shawn Tabankin will be at the head of the first battalion, 69th infantry that has been in front of the New York City Saint Patrick's Day parade since 1851. This year's parade in the Big Apple will take place March 17th. Tabankin, who has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan, says the parade is a return to normalcy following the COVID-19 pandemic.
