A state investigation has revealed the official cause of a deadly house explosion in East Berne last year.

Officials say the blast back in June was triggered by an uncapped propane line in the basement of the residence on Hilltop Lane. That led to fumes building up in the home which were then ignited by an electrical spark from an appliance. The blast took the lives of 83-year-old Victor Porlier and his 72-year-old wife Lois Porlier. The house was destroyed but no other injuries were reported.
