Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend Expected to Make Court Appearance

The man who is accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend is expected to make an appearance in Stephentown Town Court Thursday evening for a preliminary hearing.

Court documents say that 22-year-old Ian Hasselwander stabbed and strangled 20-year-old Morgan Bates. She was reported missing on February 22nd and her body was found February 27th near Black River Road in Cherry Plain State Park. Hasselwander was arraigned last week and is currently being held in the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
