Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says the Capital Region will receive $22-million from an omnibus spending package approved by Congress.

The money will be used to boost research projects at both UAlbany and RPI, create a new Port of Albany training center and expand the area's nonprofit hub. Schumer says these funds are going to help create economic growth in the region by investing in industries that are creating jobs. Several communities will also get financial assistance with paying for infrastructure projects.
