The New York School Nutrition Association wants lawmakers to add a meal program to the state budget.

This comes as the federal COVID-19 pandemic program providing free breakfast and lunch to around 800,000 students in the state is set to expire in the fall. Those advocating for "Healthy School Meals For All" want funding for a universal meal program that will make sure students statewide have access to breakfast and lunch every school day. The New York School Nutrition Association's board members are asking the state for $200-million for the program.
